We tend to put a lot of wear and tear on our bodies whether it be from a stressful job, running after kids, fitness activities or simply overextending ourselves. At the end of a week, our bodies are begging us to take a few minutes and rejuvenate with a soothing, relaxing lavender body scrub. In just a few minutes you can create an easy homemade scrub that will leave your skin moisturized and revitalized with the added calming benefit from lavender.
Most scrubs are made from either using a salt or sugar to create the base. I prefer to use epsom salt or sea salt for their added rejuvenating and moisturizing effects on the skin. Using regular table salt simply won’t work for achieving a good, body-benefiting scrub.
Jojoba oil has quickly become a favorite of mine as it closely mimics sebum, a substance produced by our skin glands and acts as a natural conditioner to protect it from drying out. It also works wonderful as a carrier oil when pairing it with essential oils as we are doing here with the lavender essential oil.
Honey is another amazing ingredient to always keep on hand for its natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It’s delightful to digest, but also does wonders for our skin. A little tablespoon in the scrub is really going to have some much-needed benefits towards achieving that soft, healthy skin we all want. So go ahead, allow yourself to indulge in an evening of pampering, your skin is begging for it!
Homemade Relaxing Lavender Body Scrub
- 2 cups epsom salt (or sea salt)
- 1 cup jojoba oil
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
- ¼ cup dried lavender buds
Combine all ingredients together in a glass bowl. Spoon into glass jars and store in a cool, dark place.
I love, love, love using this body scrub in the shower or bath followed by a nice glass of Pinot Noir, a soothing candle and a good book all while allowing the lavender aromas to create a balanced harmony on my skin and leave me to a peaceful night of sleep ahead. Tranquility awaits you.
